Ira P. Mersack, MD

Dr. Mersack received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and his residency in dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine where he was chief resident. He is the senior partner in Dermatology Associates of Kentucky, a nine-physician dermatology practice and has been in practice in Lexington, Kentucky for 30 years. He is an associate professor at UK and the author of 15 medical papers. He served three years in the US Army, including a year in the Republic of Vietnam as a surgeon with an infantry battalion. He was awarded the combat medics badge, the bronze star and attained the rank of major. Dr. Mersack has been involved in Thoroughbred racing and breeding for more than 20 years. He has put together many breeding and racing partnerships and expects to reach out to more friends and clients. One of his best stakes winners was named for the motto of the 25th division, TROPIC LIGHTNING, and is now a stallion in Washington State.
