Cash Refund, the 3-year-old sprint sensation by Petionville, made a successful return to the races Sunday after a seven month layoff to win a six furlong allowance at the Fair Grounds. Cash Refund broke alertly and sat second going down the backside, then took the lead going into the turn and held off Written in Stone to win by a half-length in a final time of 1:09.92. The win improved his record to 3 wins and 1 second from 4 starts.
Last time out, Cash Refund ran a game second to grade one winner Capt. Candyman Can in the Matt Winn Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Cash Refund garnered national attention when he earned a 110 Beyer in winning a Churchill Downs allowance race by 7 lengths in April. Cash Refund figures to be one of the leading sprinters in the country in 2010.
