Kela Weanlings Attract Attention at Keeneland November

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Kela’s first crop weanlings made a big impression at the recent Keeneland November Sale. Five of the six offered sold, averaging a healthy $22,000, almost three times the stallions stud fee. Kela had individuals sell for 44,000, 42,000, 24,000, and 20,000 with the former being the session topper during the Sunday session.

What was also encouraging was the wide variety of buyers who were bidding. From pin hookers, to racing syndicates, to commercial breeding operations, Kela’s first offerings at auction attracted a wide range of interested parties. Results below…

Welcome!

Thursday, November 29, 2007

Welcome to our new, updated, refurbished, technically improved website… thank you, Gary.

Although the first of December is our initial ‘opening’ of the new website, in actuality, this is going to be a “work in progress” for the next year.  Gary, our in-house ‘techo’ wizard has planned a great deal of additional interactive upgrades for Margaux, not only on our website, but also in-house.

I suggest that you look at all of our various programs (staff, foals, stallions, facilities), and if you are considering breeding to any of our stallions, make sure to check out their new interactive pages that include everything from conformation and race videos to mating advice.

Another exciting option on the site is the ability to subscribe to a “feed” of our news page. (RSS) This allows our news updates to be streamed to your desktop, laptop or handheld device (Blackberry etc) without v Continue...

Northern Dancer

Kela is the product of the Mr. Prospector Northern Dancer cross, as is his sire Numerous. In his offspring, however, Kela will only give Northern Dancer 5x4, and there are now a considerable number of good stakes winner with three crosses of Northern Dancer. Therefore, Kela should still be able to work with Northern Dancer line mares, particular mare by grandsons and great grandsons of Northern Dancer, who will only give Northern Dancer 5x4x4 or 5x4x5

There are some Northern Dancer strains which are particularly interesting here. Numerous is out of a mare who is a three-parts-sister to Nureyev, and very closely related to the brothers Sadler’s Wells, Fairy King and Tate Gallery. Numerous has already sired U.S grade one winner Numerous Times out of a Continue...

G1 Goldmine Mating Analysis

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

G1 Goldmine, a relatively new and extremely useful pedigree analysis program is now available on our individual stallion pages. If you are interested in testing the strength of a mating to one of our stallions click on the G1 logo on each page for analysis on the cross.

G1 Goldmine is quickly becoming the pedigree program of choice for the farm. While we have Tesio Power, Compusire, Enicks and G1 Goldmine we inevitably find ourselves going back to G1 more often then not.

We reccommend breeders give the full program a chance. It requires more time and effort then programs like Enicks, which are essentially popular because it requires almost no effort on the user's part and gives a simple pass, fail score in seconds. (the trade off is some surprising inconsistencies and grading flaws ) While Goldmine doesnt give a simple pass fail score, there is not  program on the market lets you dig in to a cross and provide you with as much useful information on Continue...

Kela's first yearling at public auction sells for $30,000!

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

At the recent Fasig Tipton July Yearling Sale, the first yearling offered at auction by Kela brought an impressive $30,000.

Consigned by Burleson Farm, Hip #304, a bay filly out of the dam Kidnap Katie was purchased by Leprechaun Racing, a group that syndicates its sales purchases to race and-or pinhook the following year.

Offspring by Kela have commanded an impressive amount of attention at public auction thus far. His first crop weanlings averaged three times his stud fee at $22,000 and if the Fasig Titpton sale is any indication, the upcoming Keeneland September Sale should be quite successful for the promising young stallion.
