Temple City Terror Reclaims Crown in Keertana S.

Margaux Freshening & Training Grad TEMPLE CITY TERROR defended her title with a last to first 1/2 length victory in the Keertana Stakes, going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs on May 28.

TEMPLE CITY TERROR had previously taken the 2021 edition of the Keertana Overnight Stakes. She entered the race off an allowance prep at Keeneland in April. Breaking last, jockey Adam Beschizza remained unhurried and trailed the field through much of the race. Approaching the final stretch she made her move and was put under a long drive to get up in the final jumps.

Expertly primed by trainer Brendan Walsh, the 6 year-old TEMPLE CITY mare was purchased as a yearling from the Keeneland September Sale for a mere $22,000 by owner Pocket Aces Racing LLC. The classy turf mare has consistently kept herself in good company and earned graded stakes placed status last year when 3rd in both the Robert G. Dick Memorial S. (G3) and the Glens Falls S. (G2). She will now gear up for a strong summer campaign carrying $435,718 in earnings.
