After getting blocked in at the eighth pole during last month’s Doubledogdare S. (G3) at Keeneland, Lunar Surge narrowly missed the win by a head to victor Deceptive Vision. Next up for the 5-year-old Malibu Moon mare will be the Allaire DuPont Distaff S. (G3) at Pimlico on May 15.
Hoping for a better ride, Lunar Surge looks to score her first graded stakes victory on Friday for trainer George Weaver. Jockey Jose Ortiz, who rode Lunar Surge to victory in the Maryland Racing Media S. at Laurel Park in February, will once again be aboard the gray mare.
