Margaux Farm breaking and training graduate Bull Shoals earned a well-deserved maiden victory on August 16 at Del Mar, drawing clear to win an $80,000 maiden special weight by 3 1/4 lengths.
The three-year-old son of Mo Forza had been knocking on the door, finishing second three times in his first five starts before breaking through at Del Mar. Sent off as the favorite under Umberto Rispoli, Bull Shoals stalked the pace before making his move around the far turn, taking command in the final furlong and kicking clear to win going away.
A homebred for Bushman Thoroughbreds, Bull Shoals is by Mo Forza out of the Liam’s Map mare Rapid Water and is trained by Jena Antonucci. The victory brings his career earnings to $108,521.
