Margaux Farm breaking and training graduate Storm's Wake added another impressive accomplishment to her racing résumé on September 7, 2026, capturing the $250,000 Old Dominion Oaks at Colonial Downs. The victory marked the three-year-old filly's fourth career win and pushed her earnings past the $750,000 milestone.
The daughter of Oscar Performance out of the Night of Thunder mare Amber Storm (IRE) demonstrated her determination in the 1 1/8-mile turf contest. With jockey Samuel Marin aboard, Storm's Wake settled just behind the early leaders before advancing into contention around the far turn. She engaged in a thrilling stretch duel with Soloist, battling gamely to the wire and holding on by a head to secure the victory in a final time of 1:48.60.
Bred and owned by William K. Werner, Storm's Wake has developed into an accomplished young turf runner under the care of trainer Brian A. Lynch. Her Old Dominion Oaks victory further adds to an impressive record of consistency and success early in her racing career.
Congratulations to owner and breeder William K. Werner, trainer Brian A. Lynch, and all the connections of Storm's Wake on this outstanding achievement. We look forward to following her continued success on the racetrack!
