Siyouincanada (FR) earned the first stakes victory of his career on September 7 with a commanding performance in the $200,000 Gio Ponti Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
The 3-year-old colt by Siyouni (FR), out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Polished, went straight to the front under jockey Kendrick Carmouche in the one-mile turf contest. Settling comfortably along the inside, Siyouincanada (FR) controlled the pace before kicking clear in the stretch to win by 2 1/4 lengths.
He completed the mile over firm turf in 1:34.71.
Trained by Joe Sharp for Newtown Anner Stud Farm and LNJ Foxwoods, Siyouincanada (FR) was bred by LNJ Foxwoods SC. The Gio Ponti victory improves his career record to two wins and one third from four starts, with earnings of $174,206.
The performance marked an important milestone for Siyouincanada (FR) as he continues to build his résumé during his 3-year-old campaign.
