Margaux Farm training graduate Emerald Spun continued her strong summer on Sunday, August 23, adding an allowance victory at Colonial Downs to a growing résumé.
The 3-year-old daughter of Hard Spun has put together a consistent stretch of performances over the past two months. After breaking her maiden at Colonial Downs in early July, she returned to finish second in allowance company later that month before stepping forward again on Sunday.
Facing a field of eight in the $90,000 allowance going one mile on the turf, Emerald Spun settled off the pace under jockey Jareth Loveberry before advancing into contention around the far turn. She battled down the stretch and got the better of Omahamoiselle in the final strides, prevailing by a neck in 1:37.45.
By Hard Spun out of Summertime Green, by Empire Maker, Emerald Spun was bred in Virginia by Ann Mudge Backer and Smitten Farm. She races for Hidden Valley Racing (Steve Evans), Murray West, Willie Koester and Bobby Shiflet and is trained by Rodolphe Brisset.
Emerald Spun came through the Margaux training program before beginning her racing career, and we’re proud to see her continue to progress and deliver consistent performances on the racetrack.
Congratulations to her connections on another trip to the winner’s circle!
